BMX Backflips - Master Arts With BMX Bicycles

BMX backflips are tricks performed by BMX riders on specially designed BMX bicycles.

BMX backflips are some of the best tricks performed on a BMX bike. For such tricks, the bicycle is usually constructed with 20" wheels. These wheels are also referred to as steel ponies or iron horses. Backflips are specifically performed on sandy areas or hilly tracks. BMX backflip is also a type of freestyle racing which can also be performed on flat grounds, wooden ramps, trails or several obstacles found on the street.

Learning To Backflip With Your BMX bikes

In BMX backflip, the bicycle is rotated at an angle of 360 degrees on the vertical axis with a sudden smooth jerk and the rider faces backwards with total grip on the handlebar. Backflip can be easily performed several times in a row. With progress in experimentation, BMX riders have come up with innovative tricks and the backflip jerk is not an exception.

In a backflip, the front wheel of the bike is coaxed to rotate in a 180-degree or 360 degree spin. To start with, you should turn your handlebars around. You have to push yourself towards the front of the bike while you face the sitting position. You can position yourself behind the handlebars or in front of them according to your preference. While performing the trick, you must hold the seat single-handed with one foot on the front pegs and the other to keep yourself rolling. However, remember that whatever you do, you have to do it safely with utmost style and precaution.

In one kind of backflip performance, you can readily roll forward at medium speed. In this particular case, you have both your feet on the back pegs. After your back tire sets down it's time for you to tap the back brake and pull up the front portion of the bike so that you are in a position to do a backward manual from the pegs. Then just jump around the front of the bike and allow your right foot to be on the back left peg and your left foot balanced in the air. You should carefully grab the front left peg using your left hand and successfully position the bike vertically. Then jump back in a manner so that your left foot is on the left peg once more.

In the backyard performance of BMX backflip you should begin by facing backward on your bike. Bring the back brake into action and slightly lift the front portion of your bike. When your other foot is on the back peg, you should aptly make use of the other foot to "scuff" the tire. Put away one of your hands from the handlebars and wave your hands as you balance yourself steadily on the wheels of your bike.

At times, when a rider performs a backflip trick, in the middle he can throw a tailwhip and he always looks for chances to catch the tailwhip while he pulls himself out of the backflip.

In short, a BMX backflip is an outstanding acrobatic skill, which gives the BMX rider a chance to prove himself.
